Why We Get Sick

  Acidity Causes Inflammation…it's where disease happens. I personally believe most health problems are the result of a nation of over acidic people. With all of the cooked (dead), processed and chemically laden foods we eat, we are not getting the enzymes or the macro and micro nutrients needed for restoration and healthy cellular rejuvenation. The strength of our immune system parallels how vulnerable we are to illness. You are less likely to get sick or stay sick if your bodily fluids are in proper alkaline balance. Many autoimmune disorders have many of the same symptoms. I believe this is because each of us has accumulated our own unique cesspools from our accumulated bad eating habits, environmental toxins and stresses. When these cesspools fill to the brim, usually when one is 30-50 years old, they start pouring into the bloodstream oftentimes causing excruciating pain that wasn't there the day before, and expressing as any one of a myriad of autoimmune disorders. This HIGHLY acidic outpouring causes A LOT of free radical damage. The mineral the body uses to neutralize this acidity is CALCIUM. If you are not getting enough of the right kinds of assimilable calcium, your body will steal it from your bones. This is why we have one of the highest levels of osteoporosis in the U.S. When there is a high amount of acidity, thus neutralizing needing to take place, there is an explosive amount of dead cellular and calcium waste sludge created that the body is overtaxed with and has a hard time eliminating. This packs up in your extremities where you have the smallest vessels and the most challenging circulation, your hands and feet. The nodules you see in so many peoples' hands and feet are the result of a buildup of this "sludge" that the body got overtaxed with and couldn't eliminate. The kidneys have the job of cleaning the blood. Little "rocks" are created because the kidneys cannot keep up with this calcium sludge it is trying to eliminate so it builds up into these little stones. I believe this acidity, burns our cartilage, collagen and muscle tissues and the sludge that is created by the body as it neutralizes this acidity, "dams up" in our joints over time leading to permanent pain and disfigurement.

  By eating excessive amounts of foods that are acidifying and hard to digest, like dairy and wheat, we can create an intolerance to it that we did not have as children. And by eating a diet pervasive in dead, cooked foods, processed and chemically laden foods, which are almost all very acidifying, we leave our cells starving for the nutrients they need for rejuvenation and restoration. For centuries people ate a variety of whole grains; barley, oats, quinoa, amaranth, spelt, kamut, wheat etc. All of these were WHOLE grains which included the bran, which is needed to keep things moving through digestion and to scrub out our intestinal tract, as well as the germ, filled with vitamins and minerals, and the endosperm needed for fuel. In recent history we have not only narrowed our diet down to one grain, wheat, but in most cases, commercially, it is genetically modified (GMO wheat: altered from the way God designed it for mankind) and has been refined (the bran and germ removed). I truly believe this is one of the major contributors to many autoimmune disorders. It makes sense if you think about it…each one of us is born with a different bank account amount, or allowance, of enzymes needed to break a food down. If we overdo any one food, we often end up sensitive to that food because we deplete our account balance of these enzymes thus leaving us with no enzymes for the digestion of that food, so our body treats it like a foreign invader, or poison, circulating in our blood, highly acidic thus causing joint and muscle pain, shooting pains and a myriad of other debilitating symptoms. Either we did not inherit many enzymes for the digestion of a particular food (in the case of dairy, lactase), or we acquire an intolerance as in the case of wheat. Too much wheat can lead to gluten intolerance because of the high levels of gluten wheat contains. We use up the limited stores of enzymes our bodies do have for digesting gluten, rather than eating a healthy balance of many grains and sprouted grains, thus creating Celiac disease which is now rampant in the US.

  I am a recovering "milk-a-holic". My extensive research has led me to the conclusion that it is a health hazard. Molecularly, I believe God designed cows milk for the needs of rapidly growing large beasts, called calves. Cows are the only animal we share the common Igf-1 growth hormone with which accelerates growth to get a baby calf to the size of a huge beast in a short period. Many believe this hormone also contributes to the rapid growth of mutant cells in the body. In biblical times, people did drink goats and lambs milk, but on a molecular scale, it is much easier for humans to assimilate and does not have this same Igf-1 hormone, however, we are the only "animal" that is drinking milk after weaning and the only "animal" that makes the habit of drinking another mammals mammary excretions…something is wrong with this picture. AND, even though people drank lamb and goat milk in Biblical times, I do not believe it was intended for humans past weaning, but, as an alternative for nursing infants who either lost their mothers, or, for some reason, could not nurse…just until they are able to healthfully assimilate solid foods. And as milk is very acidifying in the process of digesting its' protein, our body has to give up its' own calcium to neutralize the acidity created. How is it that the U.S. is one of the largest dairy consumers in the world yet we still have one of the, if not the highest osteoporosis crisis on our hands? Honestly, I prefer almond milk now in lieu of cow's milk. Most vegetables have the levels of more digestible proteins our bodies need. For instance, the simple potato has 9 grams of protein, the right level for humans, and spinach is 39% protein.

  Any number of foods that we develop a sensitivity to like onions, garlic, nuts, corn etc. can turn into acidic poisons in the bloodstream, wreaking all kinds of damage, when enzymes for its' digestion and absorption are absent. And just look at the infertility problems our young people are having! These health challenges makes sense when you consider the typical American diet, the western diet, and what is happening to our young people generationally on a diet devoid of life giving nutrients.

"Rapid to Raw"

The most expeditious and tolerable way to get high levels of raw and greens into your diet is with Green Smoothies

Amber’s Green Smoothie Base

For 1 full blender (I use a VitaMix blender), proportions should be 60% fruit/40% greens.

Put in blender in this order

  1. 4 med. Bananas or 5-6 small spotted  bananas or 3 Large Bananas(Fred Meyer)
  2. 1 lb. Pineapple pieces (Trader Joes)
    The Bananas and Pineapple neutralize the greens taste
  3. 1 Large Avocado
  4. Third fruit of choice to vary taste i.e. 1 lb. mango pieces (Trader Joe’s), strawberries or Berry Medley (Costco)
  5. Greens: I alternate.  Every other day I will use 3 BIG fistfuls of Spinach (Spinach is 39% protein - Costco) then on the alternate day, 1 head of dark colored leafy lettuce + 2 large leafs of kale.  Do your own experimenting with other greens, like Chard for instance.
  6. When I use Spinach, I add 1 Tablespoon of my organic Greens Mix Powder.  On the alternate days I use lettuce, I use 1 tsp. of  Market America’s Greens Powder.
  7. If the greens taste is still pervasive, just add raw organic honey
  8. I also like to add 4 oz. of 100% pure coconut milk. I use AROY-D 8.5 oz.
  9. I also add 1T Organic Slippery Elm Bark.  I use this in our alternative ice cream line, so, I MAY be able to get this for you very inexpensively.

I put the ingredients that are compromised of the most water in first as they blend easy and that mix then draws in the dryer greens for a better blend.

The following was taken from www.greensmoothiesblog.com generously put on the Raw Family Site by Victoria Boutenko.  Just do a search when you are in her site: Guidelines to Drinking Smoothies.  I personally do not agree with everything she says, so, I took out what I believe is the most important.

  • Do not add starchy vegetables such as carrots, beets, broccoli stems, zucchini, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, eggplant, pumpkin, squash, okra, peas, corn, green beans, and others to your green smoothies. Starchy vegetables combine poorly with fruit and may produce what my children call “gas 4 less.”
  • Always rotate the green leaves that you add to your smoothies. Almost all greens in the world contain minute amounts of alkaloids. Tiny quantities of alkaloids cannot hurt you, and even strengthen the immune system. However, if you keep consuming kale, or spinach, or any other single green for many weeks without rotation, eventually the same type of alkaloids can accumulate in your body and cause unwanted symptoms of poisoning.  Please note that you don’t have to rotate the fruit in your green smoothies. Most commonly used fruit have very little or none of the alkaloids and cannot cause the same toxic reactions as greens. At the same time, rotating fruits will enhance the variety of flavor and nutrition in your smoothies.
  • Don’t add anything to your smoothie except greens, fruit and water. I don’t recommend adding nuts, seeds, oils, supplements or other ingredients to your green smoothie. Most of these items slow down the assimilation of green smoothies in your digestive tract and may cause irritation and gas. Even though I provide recipes with more than basic ingredients in my books I encourage you to stick to the basic green smoothie recipe (fruit and greens) in your daily routine.

My answer to healing is greens, oxygen (deep breathing walk in outdoor fresh air 15 minutes a day), OPC-3 and ORAC.  I would also encourage carrot juice with breakfast, stress management and spiritual peace.

Benefits of
Sprouted Grain Breads And Flours

  Sprouting accomplishes a veritable predigestion of grains.  Phytic acid, which blocks the absorption of calcium, and magnesium, is largely decomposed.  So are certain sugars which cause intestinal gas. Part of the starch is transformed into sugars and numerous enzymes that aid digestion are produced.  Once a grain, seed or legume has been sprouted, the starch converts to a vegetable sugar for easy digestion and assimilation.

  Unsprouted grains, seeds, nuts and legumes create a lot of stress on the pancreas by requiring incredible amounts of enzymes for digestion that most of us do not produce enough of.  Unsprouted starches have a built-in survival mechanism which makes them resistant to digestion.

  The process of germination not only produces vitamin C but also changes the composition of grains, seeds, nuts and legumes in numerous beneficial ways.  Sprouting increases vitamin B content, especially B2, B5 and B6.  Carotene increases dramatically – sometimes eightfold.  Even more important, sprouting neutralizes phytic acid, a substance present in the bran of all grains that inhibits absorption of calcium, magnesium, iron, copper and zinc; sprouting also neutralizes enzyme inhibitors present in all seeds.  These inhibitors can neutralize our own precious enzymes in the digestive tract.  Sprouting inactivates aflatoxins, potent carcinogens found in grains.  Finally, numerous enzymes that help digestion are produced during the germination process.

Many people who have been told they are sensitive to gluten have in reality been sensitive to starch.  The pancreas needs huge amounts of B vitamins and enzymes to digest starch.  Pancreatic stress can cause many health issues.  I personally believe most of the autoimmune disorders in the U.S. are caused by over consumption of starches (namely wheat and the myriad of other legumes, nuts, seeds and grains) that we do not have sufficient enzymes to metabolize.  Amber, Owner/Developer of GYFH, LLC

RECIPES - SO QUICK! SO EASY!
I use the same basic bread machine recipe to make loaves, dinner rolls and pizza crust.  The only difference is the amount of honey.

Bread Machine Sprouted Spelt Bread (place in machine in this order):
  • 1 ½ Cup room temperature purified water
  • ¼ Cup Honey for Pizza Dough, 1/3 Cup Honey for Loaf & ½ Cup Honey for Dinner Rolls
  • ¼ Cup Rice Bran or Almond Oil
  • 2 T Organic WW Gluten Flour (2 T works fine for me)
  • 1 tsp. Celtic Sea Salt
  • 4 Cups Organic Sprouted Spelt Flour
  • (Optional: ¼ Cup Organic Cold Milled Flax Seed)
  • 2 ¼ tsp. Active Dry Yeast
Pizza Dough:  Makes the lightest, fluffiest, tastiest, crispy crust I have ever had!

Put ingredients in and set on “DOUGH” cycle.
Roll out (I use Buckwheat flour for rolling out dough) and cover with favorite toppings.  Bake @ 425ºF.

Dinner Rolls:  Many have said these are the best rolls they have ever had! (Use for burger buns, mini sandwiches etc.)
  • Put ingredients in and set on “DOUGH” cycle.  Remove mixed dough when mixing cycles are complete (Usually about 45 minutes to 1 hour) Coat a 9X13 cake pan with olive oil.
  • Coat fingers with olive oil.
  • Pull uniform chunks of dough and place in cake pan.
  • Cover and let rise (can expedite by placing in warm room like your attic, over heating vent or warm oven)
  • Bake @ 350ºF for 15-20 minutes
Loaf:

Put on Whole Wheat Setting- Light Crust

Incredibly Delicious & Fast Pie/Dessert Crust
  • ½ Cup Organic Butter (Cut a bar into ¼ “ sections and freeze)
  • ¼ Cup Almond Meal (I use organic raw almond meal)
  • ¼ Cup Maple Syrup Sugar  or Coconut Sugar
  • 1 ¼ Cup Sprouted Spelt Flour
  • 1/3 Cup Ice Water
  • In food processor, mix/whip flour for about 1 minute. Add in Maple Sugar and Almonds. Drop frozen pieces of butter into chute and mix. Slowly add the 1/3 cup of ice water. I drop chunks of this sticky dough in a 9” X 13” pan and spread evenly and thinly.  Bake @ 350ºF for 20 minutes.  When done, I cut into rectangles and put in refrigerator to top with berries and whipped cream.  Makes an incredible, fast, wonderful crust for cheesecakes, pumpkin pies etc. without all the work of rolling and shaping. I do not precook it for cheesecake or filled pies, I just plop it in the pan and smooth it out and pour in filling. You can also roll this out and design like regular pie crust.

Auto-Immune Disorders

If you are in a lot of pain, consider fasting and lots of water.  You can drink alkalinizing smoothies or juices.  This often eliminates the pain quickly as it gives the body a chance to remove the acidity.  Many people start hurting again once they start eating, so, consider only incorporating alkalinizing foods after your fast.

  1. The BEST thing I ever did was start taking Isotonic OPC-3.  As far as I have ever seen, it is the BEST anti-oxidant pycnogenol. It has been INCREDIBLE personally in my circles with inflammation, pain and even allergies. I take it with Isotonic Co-Q10, Isotonic Reservatrol and Isotonic ORAC.  Isotonic for maximum absorption. 
  2. Consume as much “live”, raw organic food as possible.  75-85% of your diet is ideal.  Minimize flesh foods as they are very hard on the digestive track and are very acidifying.  If you must eat meat, work your way to using it mostly as an enhancer to mostly vegetable and grain dishes, keeping it to 5% or less of your meal.  I recommend the Biblically approved meats of fish (wild, with scales and fins) and fowl.  Even in Biblical times, they had the other red meats only occasionally and during festivities. 
  3. No wheat, dairy or table sugar (honey, coconut sugar, maple syrup, organic raw agave, stevia, erythritol and xylitol recommended).
  4. Drink Alkalanizing water
  5. EXERCISE! EXERCISE! EXERCISE!  It is the only way to clean out your lymph system.  You should reach up to the sky and down to your toes at least 20 times a day.  Also, take AT LEAST 20 deep, deep purifying breaths a day.  I HATE to exercise, but, a year ago found Pickleball and I am an addict now.  Find an exercise that can become your fun.

Nutrition from a Biblical Perspective

Please consider these points from Scripture:

  When Eve saw the fruit from the tree of good and evil she saw that, “it was pleasing to the eye and good for food”.  I ask you this; though scripture often says something is “good for food”, does this mean it is “good for you”?  We see this same, “good for food” in Leviticus in reference to the list of meats God says you can eat (if you are going to eat meat).  God says it is “good for food”, but He doesn’t say; “it is good for you”.  Even Noah, after the flood, went back to farming as the clean animals were to be for sacrifices, Gen. 9:20.  He could have just kept eating greens he gathered in the wild and meats, but, even he knew the best for his body was given to him in Genesis 29:11 as God told him to “gather” (not herd) all the food he and the animals would need on the ark, Gen. 6:21.  In fact, Noah is commanded to keep the animals alive, but many presume they were eating the clean ones when on board.  In places where God wants things to continue on generation to generation, He says; “with your descendants after you, and, for perpetual generations”.  He did not say this to Noah about meat eating.  Scientifically, it has been proven that flesh protein is hard on digestion and very acidifying, so do the best you can to keep it to a minimum. Also, Gods perfect food for his people as they wandered in the wilderness was manna, not flesh foods.  Yet the people cried out for the flesh foods they had gotten addicted to in Egypt.  God allowed them their flesh food and many got sick and died.  In Leviticus God tells his people that if they follow his commands they will be fertile and live long.  Just look at the incredible numbers of our young people that are unable to conceive!

Many give argument to with the story in Acts 1:14 where Peter is presented three times with both clean and unclean meats and God tells him to eat.  Many have conveniently interpreted this to mean that God encourages us to eat whatever because all of His creation is good.  Notice that Peter keeps saying “no” to God, because he understands that these are not acceptable to God.  Peter is being taught by God what is and isn’t acceptable by bringing to Peters attention what has already been established as Gods boundaries to our diets.  God is showing Peter that even though the Gentiles have been an “abomination” to the Jews, they were considered “clean” by God and to be received.

I CORINTHIANS 6:19-20 “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?  For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

EDENIC DIET: Raw fruits & vegetables, raw nuts (monounsaturated fats) + seeds + possibly raw grains.

  • Genesis 1:29  “And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed, which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.
  • Genesis 2:9  “And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food.
  • Genesis 2:16 “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat…”
ANTIDILUVIAN DIET: (After the fall to Noah) ALL OF THE ABOVE + cooked fruits, vegetables, seed & nuts, whole grains, legumes (including soybeans & peanuts), vegetable oils; the best being cold pressed extra virgin olive oil, then rice bran and almond oils
  • Genesis 3:18-19 “…And you shall eat the herb of the field.  In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread…”  “bread” may also be interpreted as “food”
NOAHIC DIET: ALL OF THE ABOVE + lean, trimmed, “clean” meats, skinless chicken/turkey, “clean” fish”
  • Genesis 9:3 “Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you.  I have given you all things, even as the green herbs.”

  • Leviticus 7:26 “Moreover you shall not eat any blood in any of your dwellings, whether of bird or beast.  Whoever eats any blood, that person shall be cut off from his people.” (blood is the body’s transport system, carrying in it all waste products for disposal)
*NOTE:  When animal protein is digested it releases URIC ACID as a by-product…more protein leads to more calcium being robbed to neutralize the acid caused.  Meat protein also has high levels of phosphorous which also robs the body of calcium.

PROMISED LAND DIET:  ALL OF THE ABOVE + milk & milk products (goat milk and curd from cattle), honey (+molasses)

  • Exodus 3:8…to a land flowing with milk and honey…I interpret this to mean there was a lot of life, birthing, taking place and honey to treat the palate
  • I Corinthians 6:12a  “All things are lawful to me, but all things are not beneficial.”
  • Isaiah 23:9  “Whom will he teach knowledge?  And whom will he make to understand the message? Those just weaned from milk?  Those just drawn from the breasts? Milk protein (casein) is 300 X’s higher than human milk

Robert Cohen wrote the book MILK-The Deadly Poison:  By continuing to drink milk, one delivers the most powerful growth hormone in nature to his or her body (IGF-I).  That hormone has been called the key factor in the growth of breast, prostate   and lung cancer…it instructs all cells to grow.  The body is unable to destroy it, stomach enzymes are unable to digest it, and it is absorbed by the colon, which is known to have cell receptor sites…IGF-I is used to increase milk production.

Anchovy, barracuda, bass, bonito, bluefish, carp, chub, cod, dolphin fish (or mahi-mahi, not dolphin), flounder, flying fish, goldfish, grouper, haddock, hake, halibut, herring, kingfish, mackerel (except snake mackerel), mullet, orange roughy, perch, pike, Pollock, pompano, porgy, rockfish, salmon, sardine, smelt, snapper, sole, spot, sturgeon, trout, tuna, walleye, whitefish, whiting.

  • Romans 14: 1-3, 6b: “Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things. For one believes he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables.
